Preparing Layer Exports for Solana NFT Mints
Generative Solana collections rely on layered PNG files — backgrounds, bodies, accessories, and rarity-weighted traits. A single misaligned layer or inconsistent canvas size can break hundreds of generated outputs. We see this most often when artists export from Procreate or Photoshop without a shared template.
Canvas and alignment
Every layer file must share identical pixel dimensions. For profile-picture collections, 1000×1000 is common. Centre all elements on the same anchor point. Run a test composite in your generation script before committing to a full render batch.
Naming conventions
Use folder-per-trait-category and filename-per-variant: Background/Blue.png, Eyes/Laser.png. Avoid spaces in filenames. Keep trait names human-readable — they become JSON attribute values visible to collectors on every marketplace.
Rarity spreadsheets
Maintain a separate CSV mapping each trait variant to its weight. Cross-check totals sum correctly before generation. Workshop attendees receive our template spreadsheet, which flags common weighting errors automatically.
